(August 13, 2024) This June, the NWSEO Cares program provided a helping hand to two members, Joe Worster and Cameron Young, at the NWS office in Tallahassee, FL.
On the morning of May 10th, a line of devastating thunderstorms moved across the Florida Panhandle, producing three tornadoes and straight-line wind damage in excess of 100mph in Leon County, FL. Two of these tornadoes, ranked EF-2, went through Tallahassee, and one of the weather stations measured a gust of 84 mph. The storms wreaked havoc amongst the community of Tallahassee, leaving many without power for several days, while others waited more than a week to restore power.
The NWSEO Cares program is possible thanks to our members' incredible support. As a Union, we can provide a beacon of hope during times of adversity by providing essential financial assistance to offices in need when natural disasters or catastrophic circumstances strike. Through this program, we embody our commitment to support and uplift our fellow colleagues during their times of need.
If you feel motivated and would like to contribute to this important cause, please contact NWSEO CFO Emily Roy at e.roy@nwseo.org for further details.
Together, let's continue to make a positive impact and stand strong in solidarity with those facing adversity.
