(December 05, 2024) Greetings, NWSEO members! We would like to inform you of important updates to our recruiting efforts, including upcoming webinars to discuss strengthening NWSEO membership. At the 2024 NWSEO National Convention in Alexandria, VA, NWSEO President JoAnn Becker spoke about the headwinds facing our organization in the next couple of years and the preparations we are making to ensure we can continue to serve your interests. Those include fiscal management steps approved by the convention, one of which is the end of the current enrollment incentives. Until January 10, 2025, anyone who joins NWSEO by payroll deduction (Form 1187) within their first year of employment with the agency or at their agency's onboarding class will receive a $500 enrollment incentive. Likewise, until January 10, 2025, if you join after your first year of employment with the agency, you will receive a $250 enrollment incentive. Please refer to the website for up-to-date incentive information.
NWSEO continues to support employees, lobby Congress, navigate changes in our bargaining unit agencies (including the new NWS Operations Model), and fight to protect your jobs and pay. However, we are only able to undertake these efforts with the resources provided by member dues, which is why your support is always appreciated and more important now than ever. Given the headwinds we expect to face in the next couple of years, it is critical that we increase our membership strength further, so we are asking you to speak to your coworkers about NWSEO and stress to them the importance of supporting the union so we can continue to help you and them. With the impending change in the political environment and the end of the current enrollment incentives, now is the time to join! Remember, the current incentives will end on January 10, so if your coworkers want to take advantage of them while also supporting NWSEO’s efforts, they should join before that date!
To assist you in speaking to your colleagues about the union, we will conduct a webinar to discuss recruiting tips and answer your questions. There will be two sessions of the webinar over the next two weeks; the first on December 11, 2024 from 1:00-2:00 PM EST (10:00-11:00 AM PST) and the second on December 17, 2024 from 1:00-2:00 PM EST (10:00-11:00 AM PST). Please make every effort to attend one of these sessions, but remember you must not be on duty or using government resources (office, laptop, etc.). If you have any questions about this, please consult your Regional Chairperson.
