(July 5, 2024) NWSEO has signed an agreement with the NWS to modify the staffing profile at NWS Regional Operations Centers (ROCs). This agreement allows ROCs to staff their centers with meteorologists, hydrologists, information technology specialists, or physical scientists, depending on the needs of the ROC.
The original 2016 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) specified only meteorologists could work in the ROCs. However, as the ROC operations matured, we’ve learned that ROCs could benefit from having a more diverse workforce of employees from other series.
This amendment only expands the series of employees who could work at the ROCs. All other aspects of the 2016 MOU remain in place.
